So, you’ve made it through the bulk of your interview unscathed, you’ve answered some tricky questions and feeling pretty pleased with how it’s all going. Then comes the dreaded “do you have any questions for us?”.
Don’t be scared! As a manager and having interviewed many candidates over the years you come to realise that those who ask questions are the ones who genuinely want to work for you. From my perspective I want to know that you have thought about the role and us as a business, especially when interviewing virtually it’s hard to see how engaged you are.
It gives you a chance to interview us and further the conversation, here are 10 questions that would get me thinking, you don’t need to ask them all just the ones relevant to you.
Why do you work here and how have you grown in the business?
How has the Covid pandemic affected your business and department specifically?
What are the company’s long-term plans on hybrid and remote work schedules?
What changes have you made to the onboarding process to ensure new hires are successful?
Could you describe your management style and the type of employee that works well with you?
If I get the job, what does excellent performance look like? What are the key accomplishments you’d like to see in this role over the next year?
What are the teams’ goals for 2022?
What is the team/work culture like?
What types of skills is the team missing that you’re looking to fill with a new hire?
What are the most immediate projects that need to be addressed?
What’s your favourite team tradition?
I know the interview process can be pretty scary, especially if you're out of practice, but this is your time to shine. You have already beaten off so much competition – Enjoy it and best of luck.
