How Do I Set Up Downloadable Applications?

In Forms & Questions you can use this menu to setup downloadable applications or to create vacancy-specific extra questions for your online form

Downloadable Forms

If you’d like to make a Word or PDF application form available to your applicants, go to Settings > Forms & Questions > Downloadable Forms to upload it.

Filter Questions

Filter Questions are really useful yes/no questions that appear at the start of the application form. To set up a filter question, go to Settings > Forms & Questions > Filter Questions

Code: add a unique code for your question. Title: add a title - this shows on the form to applicants as on the right. Description: add the actual question here.

Label: you can optionally add a label (see right for how this shows to applicants)

Knockout Value: choose which answer knocks applicants out of the application form - e.g. the question ‘do you have the right to work in the UK?’ would have a knockout value of No, so people who do not have the right to work here are stopped from applying. If you don’t want to knock people out, choose None, where they can continue whatever their answer.

Knockout Message: set a message to show applicants when they are knocked out after answering ‘wrongly’.

Mandatory: choose Yes if you want this question to appear on every new vacancy by default.

Application Questions

Application Questions are additional text-based questions that can be added to an application on a pervacancy basis.

You can use these to get specific, directed answers from applicants on particular shortlisting criteria - or just to ask any extra question you need!

Code: add a unique code for your question.

Title: add a title - this shows on the form to applicants as on the right.

Directorates: choose whether everyone can use this question or just certain directorates.

Description: add the actual question here.

Word Count: set a word count for applicant’s answers - but beware, they do tend to use every word of the limit!

Mandatory: choose Yes if you want this question to appear on every new vacancy by default

Skills Questions

Skills Questions ask applicants to rate themselves from a set of answers, which you can then use to filter the applicant list after they’ve applied.

Code: add a unique code for your question.

Title: add a title - this shows on the form to applicants

Description: add the actual question here. e.g. ‘How well would you rate your IT skills?’

Label: you can optionally add a label here.

Mandatory: choose Yes if you want this question to appear on every new vacancy by default.

Once you’ve added a Skill Question you’ll need to choose the levels applicants can pick as answers. Scroll down to see the list of Skill Questions and click the Edit Skill Levels button next to your new question (see right).

This takes you to a page where you can add values (like 1,2,3 or Good, Average, Poor) and rearrange them in the order you’d like.

Add a new value by typing it and clicking Save, then scroll down to the list of Values where you can click the arrows to reorder the values into the right order.
