Birmingham City Council use innovative digital search to find new Chief Executive
Sam Wilson, The 23rd of January, 2014

Mark Rogers | Jobsgopublic

Birmingham, UK – 22nd January 2013Jobsgopublic, the leading public sector resourcing company, today announces that Birmingham City Council has used its SmartSearch service to appoint new Chief Executive Mark Rogers. Jobsgopublic is the longest serving provider of online resourcing solutions to local government and the not for profit sector, delivering innovative recruitment services since 1999.

Leader of the Council, Sir Albert Bore wanted to use an innovative recruitment service in place of traditional, expensive search consultants, particularly with the Council currently facing challenging times on a number of issues, including Children’s Social Care.

Tarik Chawdry Assistant Director of HR, for the Council said Clearly this was an immensely important appointment for us and one for which the Leader of the Council made a conscious decision not to use a traditional and costly search consultancy. We’ve used SmartSearch and other Jobsgopublic services previously and have always had an excellent experience, therefore we trusted them with this most critical appointment.

We received a strong field of applications despite a lower salary and challenging time for the children’s service and I strongly believe this is due to Jobsgopublic’s digital search strategy, which is able to cast a wider net than methods used by traditional search consultancies, which often draw on the same pool of candidates.  The end result is that we are confident we got the best candidate for the position.”
