Jobsgopublic shortlisted for 2 PPMAs
Olivia Harris, The 2nd of April, 2014

After a quiet few years on the award front, we thought it was time we got back in the game and last month we entered ourselves for the Public Sector People Manager’s Association (PPMA) awards.

Drum roll please …

We are really excited to announce that we have been shortlisted in 2 categories.

The two categories are ‘Best Volume Campaign’ for our work with Hackney Homes and ‘Best Professional Campaign’ for our work recruiting Social Workers in Birmingham.

Both campaigns were carried out in collaboration with Birmingham City Council.

Best Volume Campaign – Hackney Homes

In October 2013, Hackney Homes commissioned Jobsgopublic to run a complex recruitment campaign to fill 43 diverse and varied Operational, Technical and Managerial roles following a significant reorganisation.

A campaign of this scale required a dynamic and unique approach to achieve its objectives in a manner that successfully communicated Hackney Homes’ vision, values and culture.

A multi-platform attraction strategy was devised utilising online search methods and digital and print advertising to ensure the widest possible reach. A purpose-built microsite was created to which all candidates were directed too candidates then applied via Jobsgopublic system (ATS), which was utilised for filtering, communication and reporting.

The campaign saw a great response and in partnership with Birmingham City Council’s Resourcing Team candidates were shortlisted, online assessments and telephone interviews were carried out and 185 candidates were put forward for interview.

The campaign was deemed to be a great success, and Hackney Homes were very impressed with the high calibre of candidates we shortlisted.

Best Professional Campaign – Birmingham Social Work

Jobsgopublic has a long-standing relationship with Birmingham City Council having worked together on a number of challenging recruitment briefs since 2003.

In February 2013, a campaign was launched to recruit Social Workers on a large scale in order to dramatically reduce the use of agency workers within the Children and Family services which had been consistently criticised for its performance.

It was important to negate the impact of continued negative media coverage and reposition Birmingham City Council as an employer of choice for Social Workers, The service had become increasingly stretched which made the recruitment process extremely difficult, reports showed that on average it took 9 months to recruit new Social Workers, from initial advertisement to offer, during which time desirable candidates had found alternative opportunities elsewhere.

Jobsgopublic designed a talent pool with the aim of creating a database of qualified Social Workers in order to dramatically reduce the time taken to fill a vacancy. This was coupled with the creation of a dedicated microsite and the effective use of digital media to maximise attraction and minimise costs. The application process was streamlined in order to increase efficiency.
The on-going campaign has seen a great amount of success, to date 889 applications have been received, 442 candidates shortlisted resulting in 173 job offers. The subsequent reduction in use of agency staff has seen a saving of around £500,000 and the time to fill a vacancy, from publication to conditional offer, has been reduced dramatically.

The PPMA awards recognises achievement and innovation within Public Sector recruitment and we are really delighted to have been nominated!

The award ceremony is being held on May 8th so whilst we dust off our award outfits please keep your fingers crossed!
After prolonged absence of the award circuit we have now set the ball in motion so there is no stopping us now watch this space…
