Jobsgopublic supporting National Housing Awards
Sam Wilson, The 4th of September, 2015

Here at Jobsgopublic, Housing is a key sector for us, not only due to the fact that it is one of the most searched terms on our site but it is also an area in which we truly believe some of the most significant work is being done.

With a vast number of organisations throughout the UK working to provide suitable and affordable accommodation to some of the most vulnerable and in-need people, it has become an area that we hold very dear to our hearts. There are over five million homes in Britain owned by housing associations and local councils, the provision of affordable housing requires the work of more than 150,000 employees. Without the tireless work of these people, these essential services would simply not be possible.

We are therefore incredibly proud to announce that we will be sponsoring the ‘Best Partnership’ award at this year’s National Housing Awards, being held on Thursday 10th September 2015.

This particular award recognises the incredible achievements of organisations that have taken the opportunity to share resources and expertise in order to provide the highest possible level of service to those that need it most.

The shortlist is:

• Equity Housing Association & Seddon RDP – The Thomas Meadows Partnership
• Helm Housing & Belfast Health and Care Trust – Working together to support people with Dementia
• Sovereign Housing Association, David Wilson Homes, Newbury Racecourse & West Berkshire Council
• Isos Housing & Stocksfield Community Association Trading Arm (SCATA)

Housing associations and other organisations working in this particular field are constantly faced with a host of challenges in achieving their aims. The housing crisis in the UK is a growing issue and one that falls at the feet of not only the government, but organisations and individuals that work with those that suffer most from it, on a daily basis. Recent events like #HousingDay and movements such as ‘Homes for Britain’ strive to highlight the issues at hand and whilst public support is crucial, it is those working on the frontline that make such a significant difference.

Events such as the National Housing Awards recognise the achievements of these organisations, and the individuals within them, and it is for this reason that Jobsgopublic take a huge amount of pride in showing our support.

The ‘Best Partnership’ award is also very dear to us as we have experienced the significant benefits of partnership working first-hand. In the last couple of years, we have struck up a number of highly effective and successful partnerships with a range of public sector organisations. The sharing of public and private resources, and expertise has reaped significant results to a variety of challenges and also helped to achieve huge savings, in both time and money.

Our sponsorship of this award is another way in which we can lend our endorsement to partnership working that will see the fantastic work of these organisations multiplied at a time when it is badly needed.

All that is left to say is a massive ‘good luck’ to all those shortlisted, you would all be deserving winners and we hope that this is only the beginning of the great work that these partnerships will achieve.
