Jobsgopublic and Medway combine to boost both adult and children’s services

It has been our pleasure to work on a number of extremely exciting projects recently with a range of top public sector employers. These projects have all centred around a ground-breaking service with the needs of local residents firmly at its heart.
The most recent has been the launch of the brand new Medway Council Social Care site which represents the next phase of Medway’s improvement plan which will see them stand as a good to outstanding service by 2017.
Having worked with Medway Council on a number of smaller projects, we were delighted to partner with them for this ambitious project which would incorporate both children’s and adult services.
An aspect of this project that really spoke to us was Medway’s willingness to innovate and make brave decisions in their pursuit of excellence in service delivery. This genuinely sets them apart and makes their offer to ambitious social care professionals all the more compelling.
Medway’s strapline ‘Make a Difference’ stood out to us as an integral aspect of this campaign. The simple yet clear message that succinctly captured not only Medway’s ambitions but the ambitions of those that they will be recruiting. From our time consulting with Medway about this project, it was clear that the service user was the most important thing to them, this was encapsulated perfectly in the tagline as ‘making a difference’ to lives of vulnerable residents was priority number one.
A concern that the council brought to our attention was their worry that many of the social work professionals that would be targeted during this campaign would actually be unaware of where Medway was. This is something we addressed head on with the inclusion of a ‘Where is Medway?’ section on the site. This section not only directly highlights where Medway is geographically but promotes its key features and destinations as well as its connections to London.
Despite it being so close to London, Medway boasts affordable, high quality housing and a new regeneration programme will see this boosted further. The programme will not only see 16,000 new homes built but will also significantly upgrade the area’s education, retail, dining, infrastructure, tourism and transport facilities. This was a key aspect for us, if professionals were going to be lured from elsewhere it was important to demonstrate that the council’s ambitions as a whole were equal to those of the social care services.
The site has launched with a focus on children’s services however the ambitions are as such that it is set to expand to include adult services in the future. The inclusion of both on the site represents a shared commitment throughout the council to its residents, demonstrating determination that all vulnerable residents have access to high quality care if needed.
It is always our pleasure to work with ambitious, bold and innovative organisations as they strive to move forward and improve their services for the good of their residents. Working on this project with Medway was no different in that respect.
