In-house recruitment breakfast event & white paper
Sam Wilson, The 8th of March, 2016

On Tuesday 9th February we, in partnership with the In-house Recruitment Network, hosted a networking breakfast event for a range of in-house recruitment and HR professionals within the public sector. The session was called ‘Public Sector Recruitment: The Present and The Future’ and aimed, through two presentations and a number of round table discussions, to address some of the key challenges within public sector recruitment. We hoped that the diverse spread of experience and knowledge in the room would provide some great insight into the different situations and approaches. This in turn could then contribute towards establishing best practices and a consistently higher standard of recruitment throughout the sector.

We weren’t disappointed, the event was a great success with some fantastic discussions that really highlighted the common challenges that so many organisations share.

We were incredibly lucky to have Charlotte Johns, Head of Recruitment Operations at Transport for London, as our guest speaker. Her presentation ‘The Challenges of Public Sector Recruitment’ truly highlighting a number of issues felt throughout the room and the sector. Our Managing Director, Miles Skelton, also gave a presentation based around Jobsgopublic research on perceptions of the public sector and the use of social media.

Following on from the event, the In-house Recruitment Network have produced a white paper to summarise the key points and provide advice and guidance moving forward. This paper utilised research collated at a number of In-house Recruitment Network conferences and tried and tested pointers from a variety of Jobsgopublic research studies.
