Looking back on 2017

As if out of nowhere, somehow 2018 is almost upon us! We have big plans for next year as we continue to look for new ways to help our clients tell their stories and attract the very best talent to their organisations.

We’ll be sure to tell you more about a number of exciting developments as they come in 2018. In the meantime, we wanted to take some time to look back on another great year for us.

Campaigns

Nothing makes us happier than working with ambitious and innovative organisations and helping them find new recruits that will drive them forward.

The greatest pleasure of our campaigns is putting our clients in the spotlight and providing them with a platform to tell their story. The organisations we work with have such big ambitions and so much to offer prospective candidates, helping them communicate this is what we’re all about.

A number of campaigns that begin initially as temporary recruitment drives become ongoing campaigns and we’re delighted that this has continued to be the case in 2017. Our ongoing clients have included:

Medway Council – Social Work Campaign

We’ve also run a big range of shorter campaigns, these have included:

SmartSearch

It’s been a big year for SmartSearch. As the public sector continues to face some significant challenges, inspirational and strong leadership has arguably never been more crucial.

Senior recruitment is never an easy task but in the current climate, finding exactly the right fit to not only help an organisation stay afloat but thrive is something else entirely.

It’s for this reason that we’re especially proud of our achievements this year. Our fantastic SmartSearch team have approached every challenge head on and some of the successful appointments have included:

• Elmbridge Borough Council – Head of Planning
• Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead – Head of Commissioning
• London Borough of Hillingdon – Head of ICT
• Bath and North-East Somerset Council – Heritage Business Manager
• Voice – Chief Executive

We’ve continued to develop SmartSearch, driving our use of data, industry knowledge and innovative search methods to further enhance the service. This service will only continue to expand and grow into the next year.

Chapter Education

School recruitment has been a big part Jobsgopublic for nearly two decades. Those in the sector won’t need to be told the extent to which the teacher recruitment market has changed – there is a well-documented teacher shortage in the UK, making competition for the top talent fierce.

In response to the changes in the sector, we wanted to set up our own dedicated service to help schools combat the challenges they face.

And so, Chapter Education was born! Chapter is the dedicated education arm of Jobsgopublic, helping schools ensure that their recruitment strategy is fit to purpose in today’s market. We’ve combined considerable recruitment experience with education HR expertise to put together an incredible team, ready to help schools, academies, MATs and authorities across the UK.

PPMA Awards

Those that follow us closely will know that we have had some great successes with our clients at the annual PPMA awards.

The competition is always incredibly strong so at the 2017 ceremony, we were absolutely overjoyed to win not one but two awards for Best Frontline Recruitment Campaign and Best Value for Money Campaign.

Our Best Frontline Recruitment Campaign Award is in recognition for our ‘All Roads Point South West’ campaign that we ran for Bath and North-East Somerset Council. Recruiting to their Highways and Traffic service, this campaign saw us tackle some challenging roles by highlighting exactly what makes BathNES an employer of choice for ambitious individuals in that field.

The Best Value for Money Campaign award was for our work with Cambridgeshire County Council’s social care services. This ongoing campaign set out to attract highly talented social care professionals to both their adults and children’s services. It is always a pleasure to work on campaigns with employers with big ambitions, especially when those ambitions are to provide the best possible services to those who need them most. Cambridgeshire do this by placing huge levels of trust in their social workers, empowering them to make their own decisions when it comes to the care they provide.

Our entries for next year’s award are currently being prepped and fingers crossed we can make it five years in a row!

Events

2017 has given us more opportunities than ever before to get out of the office and either attend events or host our own.

This year we were delighted to host a number of breakfast events, focusing on different sectors and key areas of recruitment in partnership with InHouse Recruitment Network as well as events like our Midlands ‘Let’s Talk Digital’ event, hosted with the PPMA. These provide the opportunity to dissect some of the key topics impacting recruitment through expert speakers and round table discussions.

We were also honoured to be main sponsors at the East England LA Challenge – this incredible event puts teams from a range of authorities to the test with a day of grueling role play challenges. Congratulations to the winners, Luton Borough Council.

Finally, nothing brings more Christmas cheer than a few additions to the family and we’ve had it in abundance this year, in more ways than one.

Firstly, we’ve had the pleasure of a number of new faces joining us here at Jobsgopublic HQ this year. Our new recruits in Marketing, Client Partnership, Media Sales, Production and Project Management have allowed us to continue developing our services and maintain the level of customer care that we hold dear.

Also, a few of people are soon to be expecting little bundles of joy of their own – making the Jobsgopublic extended family that bit bigger. I’m sure you’ll join us in wishing all the best to Abi, Dan and Sofie who’s little ones are all due either before Christmas or soon into the new year.

So that was 2017! It’s been a fantastic year and all that’s left is to say thank you for your part in it. We look forward to working with you in 2018 and beyond!
