Jobs Go Public is proud to support The Tree Council
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with The Tree Council as a Seed Funder!
The Tree Council’s mission is to care for trees and protect the planet’s future through natural regeneration. With an almost 50-year legacy, the non-profit organisation boasts a diverse range of projects. These include tree planting, protective research and working with schools to create fruit-bearing orchards.
Why is The Tree Council’s work so important?
Planting and protecting both trees and hedgerows is crucial in the fight against climate change. The Tree Growers’ Guide states that the UK needs to plant an extra 1 billion trees before 2050 in order to absorb enough carbon to reach the goal of net-zero.
This requires roughly 17% of Britain’s land mass to be planted with trees or hedgerows. Yet, with Britain losing half of its hedgerows in the last 75 years, the work of The Tree Council is now more important than ever.
Preventing climate change is not the only benefit of the Council’s work. Their partnerships help to protect biodiversity across Britain, improve the country’s air quality and work with local authorities to prevent tree-endangering diseases such as ash dieback.
Our partnership
As a Seed Funder, JGP has enabled The Tree Council to plant up to 200 metres of hedgerows or trees in communities around the UK. We will also be donning our wellies to participate in Partner Planting Days, such as the National Tree Week campaign in late November. This week marks the beginning of the winter tree planting season. As such, volunteers from JGP will assist in improving wildlife habitats, planting hazel trees and regenerating hedgerows in Hampshire.
