Jobs Go Public's Run 60 Challenge for Cancer Research UK

This September Cancer Research UK hosted the fantastic Run 60 Challenge in order to raise money for their life-saving research. The goal of the event was for participants to run a total of 60 miles between the 1st and 30th of September. Donations from the challenge would go towards the charity’s aim of ensuring that 3 in 4 people survive cancer.

With cancer impacting the lives of so many people in the UK, we were excited to support such an important cause. So Jade, Amy and Lauren dusted off their trainers and got jogging, all aiming to complete a 2-mile run every day in September. They each set a target to raise £100, with a goal of a £300 donation to CRUK at the end of the month.

We couldn’t be prouder to say that the team smashed their goal out of the park, running a collective total of 180 miles and raising £1,240 by the completion of the challenge!

Here’s what the team had to say:

“I’ve always been a huge supporter of the great work that Cancer Research UK do and wanted to do something to help. My knees may never truly recover from this experience, but it was worth it!” – Lauren

“This charity has always been really important to me having seen relatives go through the battle with cancer way before their time. So, when I learned about the Run 60 Challenge I was really keen to jump on board. Although I managed to sustain a couple of injuries I was determined to keep going, and I’m so proud of the money we raised. As an added bonus, my fitness has drastically improved and I’m definitely keen to keep working towards 5k, after a nice long recovery period!” – Jade

“CRUK is a charity close to our heart as a family. I have seen both my parents fight and overcome the disease. However, my mother-in-law sadly lost her battle with liver cancer last year. As the statistics show, 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime and I have seen first-hand the devastation it can cause. That’s why it was important to me to raise money to support the research to beat it. I am however no runner and it was definitely a challenge, but I am pleased that we raised so much money that could help save a life from this awful disease.” – Amy

The team would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who sponsored their run and contributed to such a great cause.
